Is LTI 1.1 deprecated?
Yes. LTI 1.1 is deprecated, and LMS platforms are phasing out support for it. Tools still on 1.1 will stop working once their customers' platforms disable it. LTI 1.3 is the current standard and the one to migrate to.
What's the difference between LTI 1.1 and LTI 1.3?
LTI 1.3 replaces LTI 1.1 with modern security (OAuth 2.0 / OIDC) and adds LTI Advantage services: names and roles, assignment and grade services, and deep linking. 1.1 used older, weaker authentication and lacks these capabilities. 1.3 is more secure and more capable.
Will migrating to LTI 1.3 break our existing integrations?
Not if it's planned. We build and test the 1.3 integration alongside your live 1.1 setup, then cut over cleanly, so customers experience no interruption. The risk of breakage comes from waiting until a platform disables 1.1 and forcing an emergency migration.
How long does an LTI 1.3 migration take?
It depends on how many platforms you support and how complex your integration is, from a couple of weeks for a single-platform tool to longer for multi-platform setups with grade passback and deep linking. We give you a firm timeline during scoping.
